Dr. Matt Hlavacek is a board-certified surgeon who believes his patients deserve the best individualized care. He treats all his patients like family. With dual board certification, he offers a unique perspective on the detail required for an excellent surgical result.

Dr. Hlavacek is the owner and primary surgeon at Kansas City Surgical Arts. This is the only facility of its kind in North Kansas City performing facial and cosmetic surgery. Completed in 2012, it has the most up-to-date technology to ensure you get the safest and most efficient treatment, with reliable and predictable results.

Education and training

A native of Missouri, Dr. Hlavacek completed most of his training right here in Kansas City. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Missouri, Columbia, he attended dental school at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry, graduating as a Doctor of Dental Surgery.

Dr. Hlavacek then attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine, where he graduated and received his M.D.

Later, he finished a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Luke’s and Truman Medical Center hospitals and University of Missouri in Kansas City.

He went on to complete a general surgery internship also at St. Luke’s, TMC and the VA, and finally a cosmetic surgery fellowship at the nationally renowned Tulsa Surgical Arts.

Board certification

He has gone on to continue in the academic realm to educate and instruct residents on facial and cosmetic surgery as an assistant professor at Truman Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital.
