Chin augmentation

November 7, 2013, 9:06 am

Chin augmentation is a procedure to define and strengthen the bone structure of the chin by adding a biocompatible implant. Chin augmentation is helpful for individuals with a weak or receding chin or those who need their face lengthened or widened to create a more harmonious balance to their facial features.

A chin augmentation can even make the nose appear more in proportion. In some cases a chin augmentation may be done in conjunction with other facial procedures such as a nose job or cheek implants to ensure ultimate facial harmony.

If a patient is unsure of the potential results of a chin implant, using a soft tissue filler which is temporary can help patients get an idea of the results that may be possible through a chin augmentation. Ideal candidates for chin augmentation should be in good mental and physical health with realistic expectations for the procedure and its potential outcomes. Another way to help determine if the results from a chin augmentation may be right for you is by looking at before and after photos from previous patients. You’ll want to keep in mind that each patient comes in with their own set of goals and concerns which their plastic surgeons are working around to try and achieve the outcome they desire, which may be different from your own.
