Contour Away Those Unwanted Inches with Liposuction

March 9, 2018, 7:31 pm

Liposuction is a procedure that removes excess fat from a patient’s body. This surgical procedure gets rid of unwanted fatty deposits and enhance body contours. Liposuction can help effectively remove stubborn body fat that doesn’t respond well to exercise or diet.

Liposuction – The Procedure

The procedure can be performed using general or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. Dr. Hlavacek will recommend the ideal option based on your requirements and health.

Very small incisions will be made in the target areas. Dr. Hlavacek will then use a cannula (a thin tube with a sharp end) to suction excess fat from the body. The cannula can loosen fatty deposits when used in an in-and-out controlled motion. Medical suction is then used to remove the fat out of the targeted area through the cannula.

Before Liposuction

Before the liposuction procedure, Dr. Hlavacek will explain the surgery to you in great detail during a consultation. You will discuss your expectations for liposuction with Dr. Hlavacek, who will use this information to help you get the desired results. He will evaluate your medical history before planning out the procedure. At this time, you will be asked about your medication use, including herbal supplements.

You will be asked to stop using any blood thinners. You will be also asked to quit smoking for a few weeks before the surgery. You won’t be allowed to resume for several weeks after the procedure as you recover. These steps are necessary to minimize risks of bleeding and bruising during and after the surgery.

Aftercare

You may be allowed to go home the same day if the procedure was performed with the help of local anesthesia. You may need to spend a day at the hospital with general anesthesia use. This can also depend on the number of areas treated and the amount of tissue removed.

You are likely to have bandages over the treatment area. You will experience a degree of swelling and bruising, which is normal after any surgical process. These side effects subside as the body heals after the procedure. Your doctor may prescribe pain medication if necessary.

Once the initial swelling subsides in a few days, you will be able to see improved contours on the treatment area.

The Benefits of Liposuction

The liposuction procedure offers several benefits. First, it can be used to treat many problem areas of the body. You can use it to effectively remove extra fat from the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, hips, calves, ankles, arms, inner knees, flanks, back, neck, chin, and cheeks.

Second, liposuction is useful to get rid of unwanted inches when nothing else works to shift the fat. Often, when you are undergoing a weight-loss program, those last layers of fat refuse to budge. Liposuction offers a solution to remove unwanted bulges and contour your body shape.

Third, you don’t need repeat sessions of liposuction for one problem area. The procedure permanently removes fat cells from a body part, so the results are permanent if maintained with a healthy lifestyle.

Third, you can combine liposuction with other surgeries, such as tummy tuck and breast reduction, for more comprehensive body shaping.
