The Three Elements of a Neck Lift

How Is the Neck Lift Carried Out?

The neck lift is an outpatient procedure. It is done under general anesthesia or may be accomplished using local anesthesia with IV sedation.

Incisions are then made under the chin and/or behind the ears. Once the incisions are made, the fat is removed from the region through liposuction, which involves the use of a tool called a cannula.

Once excess fat is removed, excess skin that’s causing the sagging effect is trimmed using a scalpel. Finally, the sagging muscles of the neck are tightened with internal sutures.

Since this is an outpatient procedure, the patient can return home on the same day. Dr. Hlavacek provides instructions for post-surgical care, including how to best take care of the neck area. Follow-up visits are scheduled to help the surgeon evaluate the progress of the healing process.

Within a couple of weeks, full recovery will be complete and the results of the neck-lift surgery start to become visible. The results include the following:
